Hola..
I’m simply another Argentine Tango addict. ~ One who became hooked on it from reading thee 1993 issue of the Smithsonian Magazine at a doctor’s office in 1995. ~ I went straight away to sign up with Arthur Murray. ~ ~ ~ Mistake..! :-)
But that was the only one. ~ We soon became aware of the differences in Tango by joining listservs and by going to Ithaca for lessons (Daniel and Marie, Nora dinzelbacher, and others). ~ We tried to grow tango here too, at that time.., and managed to gather a small group of people who also wanted to do this Tango. ~ But it was always too small. ~ We brought in instructors from Ithaca and had good locations but to no avail. ~ The word just was not getting picked up, and it did not grow.
The Buffalo A/Tango webpage was put online in 1997. ~ It was a great adventure creating it and adding to it as we learned. ~ But, after a few years of struggle with that too small group, and for personal reasons too, we had to forsake our love of the dance and stop for awhile. ~ But we kept the website up, along with our interest. ~ It had accumulated a number of links from other sites around the world. ~ Especially to our Tango Talk and Argentine Tango Postcards which I believe were the first to be shown among Tango websites. ~ These links needed something to connect to. ~ The postcards are beautiful and we don’t like 404`s either.
Our love of Tango continued through and a few years ago I felt it was time to try again... ~ I came back with vengence. :-) ~ We had had many very good instructors over the years and I wanted to put it all to good use. ~ It is a labor of love and I’ve put much time into knowing Tango..., its many variations, the history, and the reasons and concepts behind it... ~ Why it affects so many people so deeply. ~ The only dance that has such complete world wide recognition, admiration and attraction.
